I beg

Dear, dear blood of bright Medusa

Fire me back up

As I’ve seen battlefields –

The cruelest sounds of murder

Were so engraved in my eyes.

Scream, sweet goddess!

Fiddle with the black souls,

The hair that’s been cut,

It was showing the richest of beings…

They’re lost! Have mercy!

I’ve not wept yet, my arms

Have stayed clutching heads

And I broke arrows open with my teeth,

Drank the blood inside them.

Too good for you to pity me.

I’ve dared to laugh and dared

To burn – or send to light!

Humans looked up and up...

Pages you wanted, I held them close,

I’ve plugged my ears with them.

Brave man’s not at war for

Your crown of ever-putrid animals.

Breathe into me,

I’ll give truth to no other

Than who destroys all order.

The Mother of Physics collection allows darkness to creep up on the century of brighter and brighter lights. It relishes in the silence, gorges itself on playful lies and shows its forms only in the shadows.
